Electrovaya's battery production in New York could begin this April

Electrovaya Inc., a lithium-ion battery and manufacturing company based in Toronto, presents the production of batteries in Jamestown, New York. The first phase of battery system production could be started earlier than originally planned in April 2025.

The first investments in the assembly and test devices were made, and the team in Jamestown a 52 hectare location with a 137,000 square meter production facility grows with new settings.

“We are pleased to start these assembly operations in Jamestown, a first step for our largest production location with most of our personnel and capital investments,” said Dr. Raj Dasgupta, CEO of Electrovaya.

Battery system assembly in Jamestown is the first part of Electrovaya overall to invest in American production, which includes both lithium ion cells and battery systems. In this first phase, the total investment of 70 million US dollars is estimated.

Electrovaya has an increasing demand for its products from a variety of applications with severe and business -critical electrified applications and has priority to expand its manufacturing transactions in the USA for these important products.

“Electrovaya is in an extremely strong position when we deal with these investments in which we will be one of the few independent lithium ion battery manufacturers in the USA. We continue to progress in relation to our detailed planning for the larger capital investments that are associated with our planned activities for the production of lithium ion cells, ”explained Dasgupta.
