Emma Raducanu leaves the Indian fountain in the first game since Stalker incident

Indian Wells, California-Emma Raducanu returned to the tennis court for the first time since a stalker last month. While she lost in the first round against Moyuka Uchijima, 6-3 6-2, in the round of 128, Raducanu said that it was “nice” to simply play tennis again and simply concentrate on the match.

“I love Indian fountain, so I enjoyed the preparation that I had here for the last week,” said a pragmatic Raducanu after the game.

“Yes, I mean, I had great support in me. I felt pretty good. I think today was just a bit of a curve ball. But yes, I think it's just nice, I think I'll just go on.”

Raducanu, the 2021 US Open Champion, had previously told the media in Indian Wells that she was “very disturbed” after a man in several cases in Dubai, including the Tribüns, described as a “fixed behavior” during a game against Karolina Mustova.

Raducanu was visibly upset when she discovered and stopped playing in the crowd to draw attention to the chair of the chair. It was then ejected from the arena and has been excluded from WTA events since then.

According to reports, she then reported additional security from the WTA in front of the Indian fountains.

Raducanu said she felt safe on the pitch during the game on Thursday and did not blame the incident for the loss.

“I didn't have what happened in Dubai in my head today,” said Raducanu. “I think, if at all, like a little lack of preparation on the tennis court and someone who played quite well under these conditions, I mean extremely uncomfortable in the wind here.”

Raducanu, currently in 55th place, will play next at the Miami Open later this month. She will spend the interims working with her new trainer Vladimir Plateenik, who arrived in the California desert days before her opener.

The couple still has to do a lot together, but Raducanu described him as “very serious” and “very professional” and someone who “understands it”.

Raducanu won three games in six tournament appearances this season – and said that she could “improve every area of my game” – and focused on the future.

“I think I just have to, yes, try again and again to put one foot in front of the other and not look back too much,” she said.
