Everton Women 1-3 Arsenal: WSL-Match report and reaction

Brian Sorensen felt his team lost to the best team in the league when Everton Women went to Arsenal in a sold-out Walton Hall Park in a competitive WSL game.

Toni Payne's first Everton goal canceled Alessia Russo's Opener, only for an unfortunate Martina Fernandez goal and a second for Russo during the interruption time to ensure that it would be Renee Slegers' team who would return to London with all three points.

Sorensen changed the team, which last time won a 2-0 win against Aston Villa, and Justine Vanhaevermaet replaced Heather Payne in the middle of the park.

But the blues competed in good shape against an Arsenal machine, which the Toffees trainer was open and honest.

“I said it to the girls yesterday; If you [Arsenal] Make it right, you are the best team in the league in terms of your press in which you are in possession. They are really difficult to play, ”he said.

“You also moved the ball well today, you had a good pitch to play, and we were probably not defensive in our best compared to our way we were. And in some of the transition moments [of the game] We never really gained a foothold.

“A hard night, but we have a lot of new players, many of them play arsenal for the first time, so they have to learn to get used to the pace and physicality.

“You won fair and square today and we have to be happy, we still have so much to improve. I am disappointed, we didn't get anything, but we made a game out of it, at least until the last 15 minutes. ”

Everton started Hell and had the first sensible attempt at the evening through Honoka Hayashi.
