Ex-giants WR Plaxico Burress' Super Bowl-Ring sells almost a record

The Super Bowl XLII -Ring, which once belonged to the New York Giants Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress, officially sold to the auction.

Heritage Auctions revealed on Sunday that the championship ring was sold for a whopping $ 280,600 and set a close record. It is the second most Super Bowl ring that was ever sold behind the Super Bowl V-Ring by Baltimore Colt's head coach Don McCafferty and achieved a price of $ 300,000 in 2022.

Burress's ring was founded in February by an anonymous owner for auction and was accompanied by a letter of authentication by the Wide Receivers.

“I, Plaxico Burress, certify this Super Bowl championship ring, from which a copy together with the ring box (on page two) is the actual, authentic ring that I received on a private ceremony on May 29, 2008 with which New York Giants teammates in Tiffany and Co. in New York City, ”he wrote in the letter. “I received this actual ring as a member of the New York Giants who held the Super Bowl XLII on February 3, 2008 against the New England Patriots in Phoenix.

“I continue to certify that this ring is the only ring and that no double copies were made.”

The date of the authentication letter indicates that Burress sold the ring in November (16.12.24).

Burress, who is currently working as a FOX Sports radio host, dealt with a series of legal and financial questions after the Super Bowl XLII in 2008, which landed in prison for 20 months.

A first choice of Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL design of 2000, Burress retired after the 2013 season.
