Manhattan officials said that an contractor who beats a gas line with an excavator loader was the cause of a leak that caused Fort Riley Boulevard to close on Monday afternoon.

MFD reacted to the fair Lane from 1812 shortly after 4:15 p.m., and firefighters found that a supply crew, while Jackhammering concrete has an 8-inch earth gas line with an excavator loader and licked the line.

Officials evacuated the employees from nearby companies. They closed the Fort Riley Boulevard in both directions by Martin Luther King Blovd. as well as in the 1800 block of the fair lane until the leak was stopped. No injuries were reported.

The Kansas Gas Service isolated the leak and stopped it on Tuesday at 1 p.m., so that Fort Riley Boulevard was reopened according to a written declaration. The Union Pacific Tracks were also closed for a time on Monday evening, but were reopened at around 10 a.m. because repairs were underway.
