Families mourn couples from the East Charlotte House Fire

Charlotte – Sylvia Bertrand's family tries without navigating them in life.

Bertrand and her husband Kadhim Alamiri died after their house in East Charlotte caught fire on February 8th.

“You don't expect to lose a parent who is young and is simply thrown into a world if you have no chance of saying goodbye,” said Donna Bass, Bertrand Cousin.

Officials from the Charlotte Fire Department said that firefighters were in the Haus am Donnefield Drive with heavy smoke and flames.

Firefighters said they found extreme hoarding conditions and found Bertrand and Alamiri dead inside.

Bass said Bertrand's adult son Christopher, who had hardly escaped special needs.

He almost couldn't get the house out because he had to feel for everything, the lights could not turn on, ”said Bass. “(Da) was smoke everywhere. He came outside and collapsed out there. But he could hear his mother screaming in the house to help. “

Christopher lost everything in the fire.

“When I say that you have lost everything in this fire, there is nothing to be saved,” said Bass.

Bass says that these articles are interchangeable, but their family members are not.

“It is exactly as if they were in a terrible nightmare and just want to wake up,” said Bass.

The family created a Gofundme report to help Christopher get up.
