Field fire spreads over more than 100 acres of land near Pleasant Hill, 1 at home is damaged

Peptore Hill, Iowa (KCCI) – Iowa fire brigade people warn of fire risks after a massive field fire blocked more than 100 hectares and traffic on Monday.

The city's employees on social media, who said that the paths of the University Avenue in the west would have to be closed between 80th Street and the 75th street shortly before Monday at 2 p.m. when the firefighting teams reacted to the scene.

The fire chief of Pleasant Hill, Jamie Lee, said the fire started in a ditch and quickly spread through the field, which damaged a home.

It happened while the area was under conditions of the red flag.

Lee said the strong winds made it very difficult to fight the fire.

“You would think you have a knockdown by the fire, but as soon as the wind absorbs, it only spreads the fire,” said Lee. “It was very difficult for every fire brigade that tried to fight against this fire out there, including the house fire.”

Lee added that it is unlikely that you will ever know what exactly the fire caused, but it is best not to burn anything in dry and windy conditions.

Nobody was injured for the fire. The house that was affected had damage to the outer walls and an extensive water and smoke damage.
