Firefighters in North Texas prepare for the extreme risk of fire on Friday

As governor Greg Abbott prepares state resources to combat potential forest fires, the fire brigades in North Texas are also preparing.

Local perspective:

Thursday was a day of preparations at Denton County Emergency Services, with the forecast on Friday an extreme fire risk for North Texas.

Strong winds, low humidity and warm weather can lead to forest fires outside the control.

With a warning with a red flag, Denton County packed his brushcar.

Wind gusts Friday could be up to 60 miles per hour.

What you say:

“The gusty winds are just as dangerous because they can start fire,” said Ricky Vaughan, ESD 1 Feuerwehr boss of Denton County. “The trees move, punch electricity lines. Power lines cause sparks. Next, they know that the wind presses this fire.”

Denton County ESD 1 serves a population of 45,000 inhabitants, including the cities of Argyle, Copper Canyon, Bartonville, North Lake, Corral City and non -legal parts of the district.

Chef Vaughan calls it a complex fire brigade district.

“We have districts. We have a golf course district. But we also have 100 hectares of ranches,” he said. “It is this interface for the Wildland, in which they populated areas alongside rural areas, in which they have a much more risk of wildland fires.”

What's next:

“We have prepared many resources in various offices in our region,” said Juan Rodriguez from Texas A & M Forest Service.

The agency says that it will provide additional staff for the soil, planes, heavy equipment and more engines.

The crews are before use in North Texas, West Texas and The Panhandle.

Governor Abbott used additional state resources on Thursday to prepare for the arson threat.

The Texas Panhandle has already recorded an increase in the number of fires in the last 24 hours. So far, the fires have been manageable.

Firefighters from the foreign state are already from Utah and Maine to help.

The fire chief of Denton County says that it is critical to observe the weather, especially in Friday morning. At that moment he will enact the call whether he wants to call additional crews to be in standby companies.
