Fire

Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – The weather is held responsible for a fire in a quarter in North Columbus.

Columbus Fire and Rescue was called to a house on the Crepe Myrtle Drive in Northhaven Woods in the early 15th March.

Chief Duane Hughes said WCBI that Lightning had thrown the top out of a tree and sent it to the roof of the house.

The flash traveled through the house, blew from a bedroom window and drove through an electric outlet in the bedroom, lit the leaves on the bed.

Firefighters took the fire out before it could spread beyond the bedroom.
