First alarm day – Wednesday

  • Moderate to heavy rain this evening until early morning
  • Rain, snow and winds on Wednesday
  • A sunny and warmer trend ahead

Madison, Wisconsin (WMTV) – With our next storm system, it comes into the area that afternoon and stays well into the night. Rain could sometimes fall strongly, especially after dark, and many places will absorb at least one centimeter of precipitation before this system is finished. With the still frozen soil, water cannot easily soak, which leads to a standing water on streets and a possible drainage into the rivers and streams of the region. A few Thunder can interfere, but nothing is expected to be serious.

Wednesday is a first alarm day. This storm system brings us both spring and winter weather. We start the day with persistent rain, but as a colder air behind the system, the rain gradually changes from west to east to snow. Collections of 1-2 ″ in Dane County and less in the south. But the municipalities northwest of the city, closer to Baraboo and the Dells, could see 2-4 inches inches. The greater story on Wednesday could be the wind. Northwestern gusts will occur up to 40-50 miles per hour, which in combination with falling snow could create a reduced visibility in rural areas. Even if you don't get a lot of snow, the wind alone will feel raw and winter again.

The majority of the snow will have moved out until Wednesday evening, but the wind continues to cry. At temperatures that immerse yourself in the 20s, all persistent wet surfaces could be smooth. So pay attention to spotty ice cream that develops overnight. The brisk northwest wind will also feel much colder, although wind cold probably immerse yourself in the teenagers until early Thursday morning.

What's next …

Long -distance models indicate another system in the next week, but there are still many uncertainties about how this affects.

A look ahead …

When we move in March, the back and forth pattern continues, with signs of more temperature fluctuations and active weather in front of them. Winter is not yet ready to let go!
