Five studies from the author “Bust size and hub” withdrawn – retreat clock

A diary has withdrawn five articles about the appearance, sexual behavior and attractiveness of women.

Nicolas Guéguen, professor of marketing at the Université de Bretagne-Sud in France, was an author in each of the papers published in the Sage Journal Perception and motor skills (PMS) at least 15 years ago. All articles became worrying in 2023, but Guéguen's history of misconduct is long ahead of Pms Papers.

Sleuths have marked Guéguen's work for seemingly impossible results for years. In 2019 he was released from misconduct by his university, but has achieved at least four returns since then, according to the Retract Watch database.

In 2020, his study was withdrawn, the men who wore guitar cases were more attractive. He also lost a newspaper in 2022 about the “sexual intention” of women who wear red. In April 2024 he received four further expression concerns.

The studies that were withdrawn on February 25 are:

  1. Bush size and ancillary: A field study (published from 2007, 13 -cited, according to Clarivate's Web of Science)
  2. Hitchhiking -Women's hair color (2009, 12 times quoted)
  3. Touch, conformity and awareness of tactile contact (2007, 37 -times) quoted)
  4. Touch, sensitization to touch and comply with an inquiry (2002, 43 times quoted)
  5. Eye contact and later interest of the men: two field trials (2008, quoted 1 time)

Five of the quotes for “touch, conformity and awareness of tactile contact” came after the magazine issued its concerns. The quotes for the rest of the papers all came before the communications.

The retraction note quotes works by critics such as researchers Nick Brown and James Heathers, who published a report on 10 Guéguen studies in 2017.

The editors also listed “outdated reference lists” as the reason for the retreat and found that the works cited were an average of 10 to 20 years before the publications.

Brown told us in an e -mail that he was “very pleased” with the retractions. “It is clearly indisputable that one of these studies could have been carried out as described, and this problem affects dozens of Guéguen's papers, maybe even a hundred or more,” said Brown.

He had problems with “outdated reference lists” as the reason for the withdrawal. “Perhaps the reviewers should have recorded this when the article was published,” he said. “But then at that time she or the editors might have included the unplausible methods, lack of ethical consent and incorrect statistics, all of whom see exactly there in the text of the articles.”

Neither the Journal editors nor Guéguen answered our request for comments.

A spokesman for Sage replied to us by repeating the degree of retreat, and informed us that they could not reach the authors.
