Florida Baseball makes history in the dominant series Sweep of Dayton

No. 10 Florida Baseball completed the Sweep of Dayton series on Sunday afternoon and defeated the Flyers 12-2 in game three. The Gators annoyed Dayton in all three games in the weekend series, an achievement that has never been achieved in the UF program history. The last time Florida defeated a team in all three games of a weekend series in 2005 against Michigan State.

Florida improved to 7-0 in the 2025 season and achieved double -digit total amounts in the last six games. The last time Florida organized a winning streak with six games in which they scored more than 10 runs in the 2003 season.

Junior -Infield Cade Kurland was the way in competition with two homes and four RBI. After Kurland had not started Pinch, he scored for Justin Nadeau in the 5th Inning, before he met a Homerun with two runs both in the 7th and 8th Inning. The couple Big Flies marked the first two of Kurland's 2025 campaign 2025.

“I obviously didn't start the game today. I think it is important that if you are in this position, you have to stay in the game because your number could be called up at any time,” said Kurland after the game. “Sure enough, my number was called and I was not even on deck, I went straight from the shelter to the box. You can't do much; You simplify and just try to smash the ball. ”

Pierce Coppola dominant again

LHP Pierce Coppola has put together another great performance on the hill and won the victory after he had thrown five innings from two running ball. The left allowed three goals and a walk while he was eight.

While Coppola allowed two runs, he threw much better than his statistics. After three perfect inning, Coppola allowed a weak hit on the right field, in which Ty Evans missed and missed, so that Daytons Leadoff -Schlagmann was not on the third basis with anyone. A SAC fly would bring one of the two runs home with Coppola. His other run was a solo shot on the right field of Bobby Stang, where Coppola had a fast ball in the zone.

Coppola was efficient in his excursion early and was sitting on only 35 parking spaces through three innings, while he set five strikes.

“He was efficient, he was in the strike zone, he had three parking spaces, fastball, slider, change. His mistakes were small, he went to a few 3-0 and came back into the count. He was really good, ”said head coach Kevin O'Sullivan after the game.

Coppola threw 54 of his 74 strikes for strikes, a strike percentage of 73%. The 6'8 -Linke Hander was pulled early in an inn when Florida plans to bring him to the Saturday / game two starters. Florida wants to split up his right -wing hiking on weekends, so Jake Clemente will slide on Sunday.

Welcome back Kyle Jones and Ty Evans

The Outfielders Kyle Jones and Ty Evans were together in the line -up for the first time since the opening after the opening evening after dealing with minor injuries. The duo combined four hits in nine in bats while adding three RBI and three runs to the status sheet.

An important act in Florida season in two weeks of the 2025 season is the offensive depth, especially in the outer field. Jones and Evans are two out of five or six outfields who could see the field regularly during the first month of the game.

“It is quite incredible, I have the feeling that we can perform two completely different teams every day if we wanted, and both have a chance to have the same success,” said Ty Evans on Sunday.

The USF transfer Bobby Boser said Gator Country at the beginning of the week that this was the most depth that he had ever seen in a base team.

Brendan Lawson = Professional Hitter

Freshman Infieldder Brendan Lawson is one of just three Gators (Shelton, Boser, Lawson), who starts all seven games this season. There is a reason for that. Lawson meets .333 to start his rookie campaign with two doubles, a Homerun, five walks and 10 RBI. In order to make his stroke average more impressive, Lawson recorded no success in his last five games in his first seven.

You could not say that Lawson is a real newcomer by watching his approach on the plate. The Canadian has a great zone control, elite bat to the spherical speed and is much more powerful than its frame may indicate.

“Only his serenity. The game never accelerates him. He is under control, ”said O'Sullivan about Lawson. “He would probably have three or four homes if the wind were a little more than it would be over the course of the season. I mean, he takes care of left -handers, he obviously treats the right -handers and he gives them well in bats. He really has a good strike zone management, but it was really impressive. ”

Lawson was 2-4 today and both outs were near Homeruns, which were drilled on the warning route. The wind kept the first of leaving the courtyard, and the second became even harder and came out of the racket with 105 miles per hour.
