Florida falls within 10 to No. 15 Tennessee

Gainesville, Florida-Florida achieved a tough defeat against No. 15 Tennessee on Sunday afternoon and fell 86-78. Despite the loss, the Gator exceeded the top 25 team 47-42 and shot 46.2 percent from the field compared to 40.7 from Tennessee.

Overall, the Gator led the Lady Vols for the vast majority of the first half and exceeded 16-12 in the first and 21-16 in the second. However, the Lady Vols won the third dynamic when her leading goal scorer Talaysia Cooper went back into the game to contribute to both ends of the floor. Tennessee prevailed at 37-20 with 37-20 at the end of the third quarter and marked her only period with more points than UF.

The score for Tennessee was in the last 10 minutes of the game at 65-57. Florida gathered against the top 25 team, which was scored several times within four points, but the Gators could not surpass the Lady Vols.
