Florida Mann, who was convicted of rape, killed the 8-year-old and her grandma was murdered, asks Scotus to block the execution

An inmate in Florida, who was convicted of rape and killing an eight -year -old girl and the murder of her grandmother, asks the Supreme Court of the United States to stop his execution.

The 63 -year -old Edward James was sentenced to Seminole County in 1993 in the rape and murder of Toni Neuner (8) and the murder of Betty Dick (58). He guilty of the murders and accusations for child abuse and kidnapping and advocated for others that he could not remember.

James' execution by fatal injection is planned for Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Florida State Prison in the city. Republican governor Ron Desantis signed James's death sentence last month.

On September 19, 1993, James Toni attacked, who lived in her grandmother's house before murdering the 58-year-old wife. James had rented a room in Dick's house.

According to court files, James Toni strangled before raping her and threw her body through the room. The girl suffered internal injuries and James strangled her to death.

James then went to Dick's bedroom to rape it, but stabbed it with two different knives more than 20 times.

The murders were observed by Toni's older sister Wendi, who was finally captivated and locked up in the bathroom. Toni's two younger brothers slept in the house when the crimes were celebrated.

The Supreme Court of Florida and a Federal Court of Appeal rejected any appeal to delay James' execution.

James' lawyer cited a “cognitive decline” and argued that the execution of the execution would violate the constitutional prohibition of the cruel and unusual punishment.

“The problems available in the present case require the appeal test, which is not cut off by the requirements of an upcoming execution,” James' lawyer Dawn MacReady.

James' execution would be the second of the state this year after James Dennis Ford was killed in Charlotte County for murder last month. Another inmate, Michael Tanzi, 48, is to be executed on April 8 for the kidnapping and murder of a Miami woman in 2000.
