Florida's legislative meeting begins this week. Here are some of the key invoices submitted in Tallahasee

This week, the legislators in Florida gather on the table for their annual legislative period in Tallahassee with several important questions on the table.

Here is a look at some of the top -class measures that the legislator in Florida will take into account this year.

Changes to the weapons laws

There are several bills that aim to change the gun laws in Florida, including open carry, which has publicly supported governor Ron Desantis. Florida currently allows a permissible hidden carry, but not the open carry.

The Senator Randy Fine (R-Melbourne Beach) submitted a separate bill that opened the door to the “Campus Carry”, which means that people could wear weapons on the university and university campus.

Another measure would turn back the age requirement for the purchase of a weapon, which the legislators increased to 21 after the mass shooting from 2018 at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Prohibit fluoride from drinking water

A measure called “Florida Farm Bill” would prevent local governments from using “water additives”, including fluoride, in drinking water.

Wilton Simpson, Agricultural Commissioner of Florida, is one of the leaders who signaled the support for the draft law, which months after the general surgeon of Florida, Dr. Joseph Ladapo is available to recommend the removal of fluoride from public water systems.

Since then, several governments of the city and the district have taken steps in the Tampa Bay Area and throughout the state to remove fluoride from water supply. A nationwide ban would of course decide the problem for everyone.

Affordable living space

Condition. MP Berny Jacques (R-Clearwater) submitted a legislative template that enables local governments to name real estate for a family owner, which restricted investors and companies to buy houses and use them as rental objects.

A separate measure would require the local governments to enable so-called accessories living units, which are generally referred to as “mother-in-law suites”.

Real estate insurance

The ongoing insurance crisis in Florida will reappear in Tallahassee this year, including a cross-party invoice that provides wind storming cover by state property insurance for citizens for all nationwide all owners.

At the moment, only the wind plans of the citizens are only available in selected coastal regions of Florida.

A separate legislation would take off the condominiums of access to the property insurance of the citizens if they do not comply with the new security laws for buildings after the collapse of 2021 Surfside Condo.

State budget

Desantis has proposed a budget of 115.6 billion US dollars for the upcoming financial year, which is a slight decline compared to the current financial year.

The governor asks additional tax reductions and sales tax holidays, including the so -called “second change summer”, which would be released by state sales taxes for weapons, ammunition and other weapons accessories from commemoration to July 4.

Governor Ron Desantis presented his budget proposal from 2025-26 at a press conference in Tallahassee.

He also wants to increase the payment for all state law enforcement officers and firefighters, with the proposed increases of 20 to 25%.

Other proposals in the governor's budget are 29.7 billion US dollars for education -an average of 9,200 US dollars per student -as well as 1.5 billion US dollars for the restoration of Everglades and the water quality projects and the full financing of the waiting list for the My Safe Florida Home program that offers subsidies for homeowners before the future To protect storm damage by upgrading.

During the session, the legislator in Florida has to agree to a household and then wait a 72-hour “cooling time” before the state house or the Senate can vote on it. The governor then has a veto stream for line elements as soon as the budget reaches his desk.
