On Saturday, February 15th, there was a traffic stop in the municipality of Hamilton, which led to the arrest of the former Cedar Creek High School and the football player of the University of Arkansas, Damon Mitchell.

According to reports, the police reacted to a “temporary extreme risk protection regulation” and discovered two pistols, two rifles and magazines with great capacity in Damon Mitchell's possession. It was Mitchell's father who went to the police with concerns about his son “extreme and unpredictable behavior”.

On Monday, February 24th, Damon Mitchell was released from prison during his hearing for the negotiation of the Supreme Court of Atlantic County. The conditions of his release, before he has to return to court on April 9, are weekly reviews with the court and the maintenance of the “rightful contact” with family members.

Now, 30 years old, Damon Mitchell was handled to Rutgers University at the family to play College Football season 2017. His younger brother Ahmir was a 4-star recruit that originally committed himself to the Michigan University.

But Ahmir Mitchell was suspended before playing a game for Michigan Wolverines and later switching to Rutgers. Damon Mitchell returned to New Jersey to be together with his brother as a member of Scarlett Knights' football program.

Ahmir Mitchell suffered a torn ACL and was later released from the Rutgers soccer team because he had violated the team rules. Damon Mitchell has a bachelor's degree with an English/journalistic major and has lived in Arkansas in recent years. “Duwop” returned to New Jersey in February to take part in the Cedar Creek Wall of Fame Ceremony.

John Bjorklund, the lawyer of Mitchell, told the court that his client is now working as a truck driver and, to Arkansa's Laws, has the weapons that were found on February 15 during the police interruption. According to reports, Mitchell has three children, for whom he is the financial service provider, without a criminal register in Arkansas or New Jersey.
