Fresno man condemned for fatal shootout

Fresno, California (KFSN) – A convicted murderer will find his punishment on Tuesday for the murder of a Fresno man.

A total of 25 years to live in prison is the prison sentence that was bound to Andrew Konde after not presenting a competition against the second degree murder.

The former gang member shot and killed 27-year-old Christian Juarez in 2021 in a house in East Central Fresno.

On Tuesday morning in a red overall and handcuffs, Juarez 'sister gave hard words to the man who took her brother from her.

“I wish there was a person out there who gives them a foretaste of their own medicine and cold -hearted the person they love how they did to my family,” said Genesis Cardas, the victim's sister.

Genesis Cardenas says that the last four years have been difficult for their loved ones and that their lives will never be the same.

“In other words, they ruined my family and ruined my siblings, my family will never be completely at the table for Thanksgiving because they decided to take my brother's life,” said Cardenas.

Juarez 'mother shares the same feelings for her boy.

“He has the opportunity to change his life, he can now hug his family, but I can no longer hug my son,” said Maria Ortiz, the victim's mother.

Through a Spanish interpreter, Ortiz thinks about a conversation that she had with her son before he was gone.

“'(He asked),' when will we take off from here? 'I asked him:” Why? '”Because they will kill me here.” He was right, “remembered Ortiz.

Although Christian Juarez never comes back, his mother asks through tears to forgive the Lord Conde.

“I honestly ask God, I pray for him that God can change his life and that he can become a better person,” said Ortiz.
