From 130 to 30 – persecution of a top result in Vasaloppet

With calm and self-confidence, the Swedish Pro team athlete is now pursuing the best result of his life in Vasaloppet after his sensational eighth place in Grönklitt ITT.

Elias Andersson from the Göhlin ski team ended the Grönklitt weekend with a eighth place in Grönklitt ITT. This is Andersson's best result in ski leaves since his debut in Vasaloppet 2021. At that time he ended in 130th place.

In 2022 he took another step forward and ended the 96th place. In 2023 he improved and secured 90th place. However, he did not take part in 2024. Elias Andersson will start his fourth vasaloppet on Sunday.

If nothing drastic happens, the native Gnosjö will be ready at the start line tomorrow. With his last eighth place in his memory, the 25-year-old now has significantly higher ambitions.

“Before the season I said I would be very satisfied with a top 30 finish.”

But are you not a bit modest if you take your latest result into account in Grönklitt?

“No, but that's the level that I was throughout the season. Of course, the result was very good, but the race on Sunday is also several kilometers longer, ”says Andersson too long.

A lot of training

“Vasaloppet is the biggest race of the entire season, so of course I'm excited,” says Andersson.

Since Grönklitt, Andersson has been focusing on training and preparing for the 90-kilometer challenge on Sunday.

“After Grönklitt, my focus was exclusively on training. I have done a lot of training in the past two weeks and have now subsided a bit towards the end. I hope the form will be there on Sunday, ”says a calm and confident Elias Andersson.

“We also tested skis and completed many good tests before Vasaloppet. We will carry out the final tests today (Saturday), but it feels like we have everything under control, ”he concludes.
