The top -class civil rights lawyer Ben Crump represents the family of Cure. He called the decision “a devastating failure of justice”.

“Leonard Cure was a man who had already fought so hard to regain his life after an illegal conviction, just to steal it again. His family will not stop fighting for accountability, and we will not, ”said Crump in an explanation.

This struggle applies not only to Leonard's family – but to every family who suffered from an unchecked police force and a chronic lack of accountability. We will not let this severe injustice forget. We will continue to request the accountability for the defects in police work in this country, ”he added.
