Gaylord NWS Bureau reports a new record with over 185 inch snow this year

If you like snow, Northern Michigan probably attracts your attention this winter.

The National Weather Service in Gaylord reported on Monday that a new total of ever in winter was determined in its record books.

A total of 1.8 inch snow was followed on February 28, which had the balance of the office for a total of 185.9 inch snowfall in 2024-25. This overturned the earlier record of the office in 2006-07 from 185.6 inch snow.

The records of the NWS office begin with the 1998/99 season; Reliable snowfall statistics for gaylord before this time include a seasonal snowfall record of 207.5 inch snow in the 1996/97 season.

With regard to local comparisons, the National Weather Service in Detroit in Detroit says that snow reports for the large U -Bahn areas in Southeast -Michigan are noticeably lower this season than the middle readings of the office.

The snowfall 2024-25 for October 1. 28 are as follows:

  • Detroit: 26.5 inches.
  • Feuerstein: 38.1 inches.
  • Saginaw: 30.2 inches.
