Gene Hackman's death examination remains open and more than two weeks after the award -winning actor, Ms. Betsy Arakawa and her dog Zinna, active in her house in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

During a press conference last week, Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed that detectives had already found answers to many pending questions in the case of the Hackmans, but were still waiting for certain data to bind “loose ends”.

On Friday, the Santa Fe County animal control authority published a report in which he found that Zinna probably died of dehydration and hunger.

The report also states that the partial mummification of the animal would have hidden changes in organs, but there was no evidence of poisoning, infectious diseases or trauma that could lead to death.

The dog's stomach was empty, although only small amounts of hair and bile were discovered according to the report.

“There was a procedure that was carried out with the dog that may explain why the dog was in a box,” said Mendoza during the press conference.

The other surviving dogs of the couple, Bear and Nikita, were found on the property.
