Gene hackman death: 'no significant results' in search of gas leaks, carbon monoxide

The death of the Oscar winner Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa are not due to a gas leak, the authorities in New Mexico said on Tuesday.

The New Mexico Gas Company confirmed “no significant results” in its comprehensive examination of gas leaks and carbon monoxide in the couple's house, the Sheriff office of the Santa Fe County said in a statement.

However, the company said that in one of the stove top burners and four violations of the code reinforcement for the installation of lighters for a hot water.

“It is not believed that these results are a factor for the death of Gene Hackman, Betsy Arakawa or her dog,” said the Sheriff's office.

The office said that the information was forwarded to the medical investigator's office.

Hackman and Arakawa were found dead together with their dog in their house in New Mexico, in the previous circumstances that were previously referred to as [] “suspicious enough” to justify a thorough investigation].

The causes of death by Hackman, 95 and Betsy Arakawa are not yet known.

The couple showed no external trauma, and according to preliminary autopsies and civil servants there were no immediate signs of fouls. There were also no direct signs of a carbon monoxide or natural gas leak, the authorities said.

Both Hackman and his wife tested negatively for carbon monoxide and probably excluded it as a potential cause of death, said Adan Mendoza, Sheriff of Santa Fe County, on Friday.
