GERVONTA Davis against Lamont Roach Jr. Kampfer results, highlights: childhood contrivals against controversy draw

A controversial non-client call was the difference in the collision on Saturday evening between the WBA light weight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. At the end, Roach-a Heavy Outsider Skill to make his way to a majority and an unsatisfactory moral victory.

Davis was passive for a large part of the struggle, and Roach suspended it in the course of 12 laps, although Davis landed a light border in faults.

The decisive point of the fight came in round 9, with Roach connected with a thrust and Davis before taking a knee and going to his corner where his team wiped him off. Although the knee ended up after a punch, the referee decided not to call a knockdown.

Davis was passive for a large part of the struggle, as was a trend for his entire career. Where Davis is usually able to acquire data from his opponent before he punished fights and ended the fight, Roach was able to keep up in the entire fight and failed Davis in total strokes.

When both fighters were ready to act, Roach gave as good as he did and mostly landed the more meaningful power strokes in every exchange.

Unfortunately, the strange decision was to allow Davis to make a blow before taking a knee and rejects his corner, the decisive factor in the fight.

Davis claimed to make his decision to take a knee, the result of Grease that came into the eye. After the absorption of a blow, taking a knee is a knockdown after every rule in boxing. Nevertheless, Davis was upset when a large part of the crowd broke out the decision.

“The shit was like when you sweat and shit,” said Davis when the crowd broke out after the fight. “Why do you boog as if I say Bullshit? It's real shit.”

After 12 rounds, the last scorecards 115-113 for Davis and two even cards at 114-114. CBS Sports achieved the fight 116-113 for Roach. If the clear knockdown had been called, Roach would be the new WBA champion. Instead, the fight ended in an unsatisfactory draw.

Roach, the WBA Junior Lightweight Champion, understood the situation and how the non-Kerndown call has robbed him of winning a world championship title in a second weight class.

“[This is] Every day for me, “said Roach.” It is like that. I was cut like this … I'm a little disappointed. I thought I pulled it out. I definitely thought I won. We can lead it back. “

Davis did not seem to be against a rematch at the end of the fight.

“To be honest, I really made it competitive,” said Davis. “Of course, Lamont is a great fighter. Of course he has the skills. He has the peat power. Hopefully we can lead him back. Let us make a reserve in New York. … Hopefully we can get a reserve.”

In his opinion, Roach was clear that the referee's decision not to call a knockdown was the only factor that prevented him from being a two-division world champion.

“What did I tell you? I am,” said Roach. “I am one of the best fighters in the world. I showed this tonight … If that's a knockdown, I will win the fight.”
