Girls of Iowa High School Girls Basketball: State Turner Clamps, scores

Brackets, schedules and scores from the Iowa High School Girls State Basketball

KCCI eight messages with five. Well, all streets have led to it. The Wells Fargo Arena is the right place for this week because Girls State Basketball is underway. I mean, it's really the beginning of March madness, right? Central Iowa is well represented in this tournament. KCCI Jeff Dubrof joins live from the fountain tonight. Jeff, a championship is at stake. Ben. Laura. It will get there this week. This is one of the best weeks of the entire season. The fountain will be full all week. And for the Johnston Dragons, as I mentioned, to go into the break to do something that has not been done for two decades, namely a big school to win back -to -back title. The last team that did it was Ankeny from 2002 to 2005. If today were a hint, you could do it with ease. Johnston opened the state tournament against Iowa City Liberty, and this thing was over in no time. Johnston led after a quarter. At 17 they led at half with 31 and won the game from 73 to 45, a 28 -point victory in the State tournament is impressive. As impressive as possible, but the team said after the game that they were not satisfied because they were exceeded by three points in the second half. Our defense was a little doubtful, so I think that we only appear and to be able to think about two points in the second half. So only keep these advantages and keep up while we are there. We had a number of such games this year. It is a kind of natural disappointment when you get up with this big lead. I think we are at 36, 37. And then there is a little disappointment, what, as you know, the game is at this point. But as a team, you know that you are trying to concentrate and do what you have to do to get better for the next game. And so we try to overcome this hump. Sometimes that happens. And it happened in this game and we hope that it will not happen again. Armaments 22 Carney Remember, this team did not win at eight. You didn't win by 18. You won around 28. I think that makes her to write. You are not satisfied until you end up with a trophy. You want to do this for the third time in four years. By the way, the victory today, 50 wins for Johnston, Borderline U.
