Glasner reveals that an injured Mateta is set to Miss Ipswich Match

The head coach of Crystal Palace, Oliver Glasner, expects Jean-Philippe Mateta to miss the next Saturday at home in Ipswich Town after the striker suffered a serious ear injury in the 3-1 win of the Eagles against Millwall in the Fa Cup Fifth Runde on Saturday.

The Frenchman was caught by a high challenge of Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts and extended himself in the 15th minute, with Robert's incident brought in a straight red card.

“He is [Jean-Philippe Mateta] In the hospital now and has a serious ear injury, but the fingers are crossed that it is not too serious, “said Glasner of the official club website.

“I think he will definitely miss the Ipswich game, but I still hope that it will be available for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the end of March, so four weeks.

“Of course we all wish him all the best.”

Mateta was treated on the field before being taken to the hospital. The replacement of Eddie Nketiah came in his place and scored a brilliant header when Palace advanced to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

This makes games in a row this summer that Nketiah has committed, and his first goal Premier League for the Eagles against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.

The 25-year-old hopes to replace Mateta in Glasner's starting line-up if the Frenchman is excluded next weekend.

Mateta will hope to return to Palace after the Premier League games in April, with the striker only corresponding to four out of 16 goals last season.
