Hannibal Fire and police authorities to obtain increases

Hannibal (WGem) – The wages of Hannibal fire brigade and police officers have been a hot topic for months.

At the city council meeting on Tuesday, the Council approved a regulation that would revise the budget in order to award more money for the departments.

You will receive an increase of up to 7%immediately. In July you will receive another 3% increase, which will be significantly higher than your previous payment.

“I think it's 43, almost 44,000 a year with this jump. I think that's a good start wage, ”said Hannibal Mayor Barry Louderman. “Obviously it will increase again in July and then hopefully it will increase even more with the adoption of a public service tax or a public security tax in the next July.”

In addition to the increases that come into the departments, Louderman said that the city was working on receiving both departments of lower insurance tariffs to help even more.
