The Austin Police Department and the Austin Independent School District offer an update via a shootout that took place on March 4 in the South 1st Street.

Teenager injured in shooting South Austin

The background story:

Austin's police said on March 4 at 2:22 p.m., the officials reacted to a shot/stitch hot hotel near a bus stop in the 10700 block of the p. 1st street.

When the officials arrived, they found a teenager with a gunshot wound. The teenager was brought to a local hospital for his injuries.

The officials searched the area and found the suspect nearby. The suspect was arrested.

Michael Herbin, director of Akins Early College High School, said in a letter that was shot, was a student at Akins.

Due to the shootout, the campus was about an hour and a half, which meant that pupils and employees stayed in their classrooms and continued their work in class while the corridors were clarified and no one was allowed to enter or leave the building.

The stop was lifted shortly after 4 p.m. and then the campus was in a safe one for 14 minutes before returning to normal operation. A safe means that all activities are continued inside, but nobody can enter or enter the building.
