Salt Lake City – A house in Richfield is a total loss after a fire in early Tuesday morning.

The head of the Richfield police, Trent Lloyd, said a neighbor reported the fire at 5 a.m. near 400 E..

Lloyd said it started in a chicken material that was pressed against the house near a gas knife. It melted part of the measuring device, which led to the gas licked and the fire spread to the attic of the house.

At the time of the fire, a 65-year-old woman and several cats were in the house.

The surrounding houses were evacuated for about 20 minutes until Enbridge gas could switch off the gas.

A chicken died in the fire. No other injuries were reported.

Richfield Fire, Richfield Ems, Richfield PD, Sheriff's office by Sevier County and Utah Highway Patrol reacted to the scene.

The authorities do not advise you to put chicken co -ops against your house.
