Hot start for Warrior Baseball

John Denny Montgomery

The Washington Warriors have an impressive start to their 2025 campaign with victories over class 4a Tuttle and class A ft. Cobb is two crown jewels.

They also have a few district wins under the belt, with a few WS from Star Spencer.

Brad Lucas, head coach in the first year in the first year, is happy about his team and the upcoming season.

Lucas spent the last seven seasons as co -coach to Jeff Kulbeth's retirement Last spring.

Lucas was a large part of the success that the program enjoyed, including winning the state championships in the last three seasons.

“This bunch really likes and they are ready to compete every day,” said Lucas. “You really trust the process. You know that it is an ascent and have really accepted the challenge. “

Star Spencer

Washington two victories against Star Spencer (23: 0 and 21-1) opened the district of her schedule.

“The games made it possible for us to get bats and gain more experience on the plate,” said Lucas.

Zeke Wilson had the start in the first game and hit five in the no-hitter.

Owen Andrews had a four-RBI day with a Homerun and 2-2.

Gray McGuire went 2-2 with a double and three RBIs.

Spencer Barton nodded the bump for the second game.

He struck seven batteries and only gave up one goal.

Tuttle

Washington defeated class 4a Tuttle 6: 4 in a brilliant defensive game.

“We are ready to play,” said Lucas. “We played properly in the defense and put it really well.”

Andrews had the start and excluded four batteries over six innings.

Jonathen Montoya facilitated the last inning, when Tuttle received a last indictment and achieved two runs.

Washington scored two runs and four runs in the third in the first inn.

Mason Thomas' Homer from two runs gave the Warriors a large elevator and put the tiger a lot of pressure.

“Tuttle made some uncharacteristic mistakes in the game and we took advantage of our team speed,” said Lucas. “We felt like our day.”

Ft. Cobb

Washington organized FT. Cobb-Broxton and Eli Willits, one of the best baseball perspectives of the big league in the country.

“It was decent because there must have been 30 scouts in the game,” said Lucas.

Washington won the 6: 4 victory against FT. Cobb, Team No. 1 in Class B.

Jackson Rico started the game and made two innings with two strike outs before Montoya released him.

Montoya went four innerings and gave Andrews, who closed the game, the ball.

Washington Pitcher only allowed six goals, including no Willits.

The Warriors again played a good defense in the game, including a double game in the sixth to get them out of a Jam when Kinser Scott threw the runner on the third base on the first base and Spencer Barton.

According to Lucas, the team speed will be a strength of the team this season.

“We will put a lot of pressure on people when we bring it into play because we are running the bases so well,” said Lucas. “We won't keep the ball off the wall and we have to be in situational.”

The coach also said that he would expect pitching to be a strength of this year's team.

“This is one of the deepest pitching employees I have ever had,” he said. “I have nine that can throw against everyone.”

A key to this season will develop experiences in big moments and big games a year ago after the loss of seven seniors.

However, the Warriors return several players with experience in Liam Keltner, Owen Andrews and Mason Thomas.

“You saw a lot of playing time last year,” said Lucas. “We have some children who take the lead and take a good example and pick up each other when things don't go properly.

Lucas said his team would continue to build and improve over the course of the season and they chase this hard -to -tune fourth gold ball.

“You know what the result is in the end and what we are pushing for.”

Washington is 4-1.
