Hotshot becomes part of Xai: Start for your own video model

Xai acquired Hotshot. This company developed models that convert text into video. For XAI it is an opportunity to compete with Openais Sora.

A contribution to the X -Hot -Hot -CEO Aakash Sastry shows that his company was immediately integrated into Xai. No financial details on the acquisition price were announced.

Hotshot was founded a few years ago by Aakash Sastry and Jon Mullan. The company initially concentrated on the development of photo editing tools and later redirected its efforts to video, similar to Openais Sora. The company developed three models: Hotshot XL, Hotshot Act 1 and Hotshot. These systems enable the conversion of text descriptions into video content.

Sastry assumes that the acquisition of Xai will facilitate a wider AI implementation in the areas of education, entertainment, communication and productivity. He hopes to further advance the technology by Musk Colossus Supercomputing Initiative from Musk. Elon Musk is the owner of Xai.

As a result of the acquisition, Hotshot has hired new user registrations. Existing customers are given access to download their AI-generated videos by March 30th.

Xai wants its own video model

For XAI, this acquisition seems to be a strategic step towards developing its own video model. This would position the company so that they compete directly with Sora and Google's Veo 2.

Elon Musk recently announced that the video functionality, which is referred to as “Grok Video”, will soon be integrated into the Grok Ai Chatbot. The underlying model will probably be available in the coming months.
