Houston Oakmoore Parkway: officers' shootout involved

Five people – including three alleged young people – are in custody after an incident in the southwest of Houston, who led to a shootout of the officials, the police said.

What we know:

The scene occurred on Friday around 9 p.m. in the 11900 block of the Oakmoor Parkway.

According to HPD deputy chief Wyatt Martin, the officers found a stolen vehicle around 8:30 p.m.

The vehicle was said to be involved in a hit-and-run that day. The police say that a suspect in the vehicle showed a weapon during this incident.

That night the police followed the suspicious vehicle to Oakmoor in an un marked car. Officers in marked vehicles were called for securing.

The police say that they have initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Two alleged young people were taken into custody. Three other alleged young people, including another alleged adolescents, report on the scene.

At least one officer pursued the third youth towards Airport Boulevard when the young person supposedly showed a weapon. An official scored the youth suspect, but the police said the suspect was not hit by the shots. The young person supposedly dropped the gun and gave the police.

The other two suspected suspects were found by a K-9 unit that was called to the scene. According to the deputy boss, a suspect suffered a mild injury from a K-9.

What we don't know:

At that time none of the suspects were identified. It is not clear which of these suspects were involved in the alleged hit-and-run.

What's next:

The HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences were called to examine the shootout.

The BodyCam film material of the incident is expected to be released within the next 30 days.
