The friend pass in Split fiction is a free feature that Hazellicht Studios has brought back. If you have played a way out or take two, you already know the drill – one person buys the game and the other plays for free.

This means that you and a friend can experience the whole game together without both having to own it. Here is everything you need to know to start the co-op game.

What is the friend passport in shared fiction?

The friend pass is Hasmonight's means of keeping Split fiction as a co-op experience. If the game belongs to a player, you can invite an online friend to join. The invited player can download and play shared fiction without buying them.

The only catch? The invited player does not receive any trophies or successes, and his progress is not stored in his own account. This means that you can play the full game without content restrictions – just like the owner who invited you.

So download and use the friend passport

To get started, those who do not have the game (play for free) must download the passport version from the business of their platform.

1) Have a copy of Split Fiction

The pass only works if at least one player bought the full game either digitally or physically.

2) The invited player downloads the passport

  • The invited player must search for a friend for the store of her respective platform (PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or PC via EA App/Steam).
  • It can be downloaded free of charge and acts as a special launcher with which you can take part in a session with a friend to whom the game belongs.

3) Send the invitation

  • The player who belongs to the game can send an in-game invitation to your friend via the list of friends of the platform.
  • If cross play is activated, you can invite friends from various platforms thanks to the Electronic Arts cross play system.

4) Starting together

As soon as the invitation is accepted, the entire game can have as far as both players had.

Does the friend work across platforms?

Yes, the game supports the full cross play, which means:

  • A PS5 player can invite an Xbox or PC player and vice versa.
