How to download Kindle books to your computer

Kindles are our favorite in terms of e-reader. They are quick, well -designed machines that put an entire library in your pocket. From February 26, 2025, Amazon takes away the ability of its users to download Kindle books on computer. You can still download books from your Kindle library, but only on WLI-enabled devices. So what is the big thing?

There are two major problems here. If you want to upload books to your Kindle, you have to do this on a WLI-enabled device and many users prefer to leave your device in aircraft mode. But maybe more important is that you no longer have the opportunity to convert your e-books into PDFs.

Kindle Books are all in the proprietary e-book format from Amazon from .Azw3 files. These files can only be read on Kindle devices. So if you want to read your e-books on another device, your laptop, your tablet or another e-reader masts you download and convert them.

How to download Kindle books to your computer

The first step to download your Kindle Books is registration in your Amazon account. Under the Account & lists Tab, choose your Content library.

In Content librarychoose BooksWhat she brings into her entire Kindle library. This includes your Kindle book purchases and e-book loans from Kindle Unlimited or Libby. You can only download your purchased books and library loans that are still active.

There is no mass download option, so each book has to be downloaded individually. To do this, click on the Further actions Button and select the Download & Transfer via USB Option.

Click down and transmit via USB to start the process of downloading your Kindle books.

In the next screen you will be asked to select a device and then press download.

Your files will then be downloaded to your device. Now you can connect your Kindle and upload the files via the WLAN. What if you want to convert the files?

How to convert Kindle Books

Converting Kindle. Azw3 files is more difficult than DRM, also known as digital rights management, which encrypted e-books. If you use a converter service like Cloudconvert, if you upload your Kindle book file and try to convert you, you will receive a message that the book is encrypted.

Amazon added all of its Kindle book files DRM encryption so that it is even more difficult to convert your files so that you can only read your Kindle purchases on one Kindle. So if you want to convert Kindle files, you must remove the encryption.

The best software for converting and removing encryption is the caliber. Most converting software, including caliber, do not include the encryption removal, so you have to add it as a plugin.
