How to observe how Fireflys Blue Ghost lands his historic moon

A private moonlander prepares for his date with fate. The Blue Ghost of Firefly Aerospace has been in space for 44 days and will try to finally carry out a soft landing on the moon on Sunday.

Firefly becomes the landing test on the YouTube page live esters. The live stream begins on Sunday, March 2, at 2:20 a.m. ET, about 75 minutes before the Blue Ghost is supposed to deliver ET at 3:34 a.m. You can also view the landing in the livefeed below.

The resilience brought a leisurely pace to the moon, around the earth for 25 days before entering a 16-day lunar orbit. This will end with a one -hour descent into a region of the moon, which is known as a mare crystal, a pelvis that is formed by an asteroid collision.

The descent is supported by the tools based on board, with which Blue Ghost can avoid craters, stones, slopes and other dangers. As soon as a suitable landing site is identified, Blue Ghost will slow down with its engines until it is located directly above the location. Landing disputes will fire to control its relegation and slow down to a steady 1 meter meter per second in the last 11 seconds.

If everything goes smoothly, it will start with the planned 16 days of surface surgery. This includes the insertion of the 10 scientific instruments on board.

There will be a lot to do because Firefly has advertised the mission as a key element in the return of mankind to the moon. The LANDer studies the heat flow from the moon center and its inner structure and provides data about how sun winds and the magnetic field of the earth affect the surface of the moon. The mission also offers tests of several technologies that can be an essential component for NASA's Artemis Program.

When it comes to the end of his mission, the cameras of Blue Ghost are expected to record some spectacular cosmic phenomena. On March 14, the earth will completely hide the sun, which leads to a total solar eclipse. Two days later it will experience a moon sunset, which is far less common than on earth. A whole daily cycle on the moon takes about 29.5 days. There are also some strange effects. Dust in the moast of the moon, combined with electrically charged particles, leads to a so -called Lunar horizon light.

Blue Ghost has already written history because it is one of three Landers who also drive to the moon. The same SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with Blue Ghost also had another country on board: the resilience of the Japanese company Isspace. This probe took an even slower route and decided to keep the fuel for a lengthy orbit around the earth that helped him. On February 15, resilience completed a Flyby of the Moon, but landing will only take place in April.

Athena of the intuitive machine is the third craft bound by moon. It was launched on February 26 together with Nasas Lunar Trailblazer satellite, which has already become difficult. Athena takes the most direct path and should try her landing on March 6th.

Perhaps this stuff does not have the human drama of Apollo 11, but it remains the fact that these landers are painted into space and sent hundreds of thousands of miles with ridiculous speeds to try gently on a barren and old rocks, all in the name of science. People can still make a radonian shit when we use our thoughts.
