The AMN Healthcare 2024 report on the clinicians' recruitment and remuneration trends shows increasing salaries and bonuses for most doctors and constant demand for technical demand.

In recent years, recruitment and salary trends in the healthcare industry have changed significantly. In order to ensure success in the search for employment as a doctor, medical specialists benefit from understanding how the wind influences in the recruitment arena. A helpful instrument for understanding the latest changes in the level of inquiries, salaries, the signing of bonuses and other incentives for recruiting doctors is the annual review of the doctor and advanced practice recruiting incentive report by AMN Healthcare.

According to the AMN Healthcare report, a total increase of the middle start salaries for doctors and specialists (Advanced Practice Experts) in 2024. In particular, 13 out of 20 specialties recorded an increase in start salaries, while only four specialties decreased. The orthopedic surgeons were the list with an average starting content of 686,000 US dollars. Pediatricians were paid the lowest with an average salary of 244,000 US dollars.

Signing bonuses are common rewards for newly hired doctors. The AMN Healthcare report states that the middle signing bonus for doctors is $ 31,473. Other typical rewards are the allowances for the move and continuation of medical training (CME). Employers offer doctors an average relocation allowance of $ 11,284 and 7,910 US dollars for nurse (NPS) and medical assistant (PAS). With regard to CME allowances, doctors receive an average allowance of $ 3,969, NPS and PAS an allowance of USD $ 2.195.

It is important to note that NPS are very desirable according to AMN Healthcare report. They sit in front of all other members of the health professions than the most sought. The authors find that NPs often fill out cavities due to a lack of doctors. Therefore, there is a trend that NPS positions in all areas take care centers, to telemedicine platforms up to retail clinics. In addition, special practices have increased their NP employees. As stated by the authors, the average NP content last year increased by 8.6%, from $ 158,000 in 2023 to $ 164,000 in 2024. With regard to the total search connections, the NPs came in the second best.

General practitioners came first for most total search connections. The authors point out that the average starting content for general practitioners increased by 6.27%from $ 255,000 in 2023 to $ 271,000 in 2024. Despite the high number of search connections and rising salaries for general practitioners, the demand for all types of primary care (PCPS) saw a significant decline last year. Only 14% of the reported searches in 2024 were for PCPS – a decrease of 3% compared to 2023. Comparatively, the app search connections increased from app in 2023 to 23% in 2024.

AMN Healthcare found that the search for apps such as PAS, NPS and certified nurse anesthetists exceeded the PCP search inquiries, which indicates that patients of PCPS switch to other options such as Dring Care Centers, retail clinics and telemedicine specialists. While PCPS tend downwards, specialists see a constant interest, with about two thirds of 2024 searching to doctors such as obstetricians/gynecologists, radiologists, gastroenterologists and cardiologists. According to the authors, this trend reflects the generation of baby boomers, which depends on specialists for their health needs.
