Incorrect room heaters that blame two house fires, says Moss Point Fire Chief

Moss Point, Miss. (WLOX) – Two houses were left in ruin on Saturday after devastating fires. The Moss Point fire brigade believes that faulty room heating is to blame.

“We had one at 11 a.m. Firefighters made a quick reaction and a good attack, ”said fire chief Jason Earl Davis. “Then we had another one in both cases at 8 p.m.

In the house on Eastwood Drive there was a mother and her three children inside when the flame spread. Fortunately, they made it safely with the other family in the Katie Street.

The American Red Cross is now helping the displaced.

“They help the families because they couldn't stay in any home because of the fire damage,” said Chief Davis.

How can you prevent faulty room heating from destroying your home? A fire extinguisher is a good starting point, said Davis.

“Do you always have a tight outcome where you have the exit to your back and fire on your face, where you can extinguish it and leave it when the fire gets too big. But it is very important that we understand that fire extinguishers place our small fires, no big fire. “
