Investigation of the St. Francis Xavier director now closed

Appleton, Wisconsin (Wbay) – An investigation by the former director of St. Francis Xavier, Mike Mauthe, is now closed, according to the Appleton Police Department.

Action 2 News has submitted an Open Records request to find out the details of this investigation.

According to the law of the city of Appleton, these records could be published in the next week if Mauthe does not question the request.

Many community members are still looking for answers why Mauthe was released in November.

About three months ago, the parents received a letter from the former Xavier Interim President Katie Heim, in which it said that Mauthe was put on the administrative leave based on a complaint by the Green Bay Diocese Safe Environment Office, which led to an investigation by Mauthe.

A report was submitted to the Appleton Police Department in accordance with the mandatory reporting laws in the state.

During this investigation, it was found that Mauthe violated “our promise to protect” against the Green Bays diocese, which led to his termination.

After losing his job, the followers began a petition signed by hundreds of people. Mauthe asked that to stop.

A supporter has also created an online donation campaign that has previously collected 650 US dollars of his target of 10,000 US dollars. According to the organizer of the fundraiser, Mauthe did not answer her inquiries that he received the donations.

We contacted Gofundme, who said to us: “We will work with the organizer of the fundraising campaign to ensure that the donors' intentions, including the refund of the fundraiser, will be honored.”
