Investigation started after inmates had died in the Robeson County Detention Center

Robeson County, NC (WBTW) – The investigative state North Carolina joins the MP of Robeson County's sheriff to examine the death of an inmate who was housed in the district's internment camp.

Sheriff Furnis Wilkins said that a male inmate was no longer responded in a holding cell on Wednesday shortly before 2:30 p.m. The staff of the internment management center immediately started with life -saving efforts, and Robeson County paramedics were available within a few minutes to help.

The inmate was brought to Unc Health Southeasters for further evaluation and treatment, where he died on Friday afternoon.

Officials hold back the name of the person until the SBI determines further investigations.
