Ironon football player help first aiders to deal with the house with a house

Members of the Ironon High School soccer team are praised after they can help the firefighters who need helping hands.

A 911 call was sent for a fully triggered house fire at the weekend. A crew of four men worked against freezers and the short water supply to fight against the fire.

“We immediately found that it was a serious situation. I got there pretty quickly after the truck, ”recalled the fire brigade chief of Ironon. “The fire came from the front windows. We had to set up water supply. “

The Coal Grove firefighters reacted to the scene with an unexpected source of help.

“Five young, fresh faces came up – in fact I ran towards myself – and asked:” Is there something we can do? “, Said Mahlmeister.

The fire chief instructed the youth to lead the hoses around the block in order to maintain access to another hydrant and at the same time keep a secure distance from the fire.

Mahlmeister said the boys stayed on site for hours and helped clean up.

“These boys deserve a certain recognition,” he said. “They appeared and decided to do something good for their community instead of being outside and being little trouble.”

Since the football players are back at school and train for the coming season, first aiders learned what it means to be an ironton tiger.

“Often people do not recognize children today for the crime of civic things. They jumped in and just wanted to borrow a hand, ”said Mahlmeister. “Hopefully it could inspire some of them to become future firefighters.”

Firefighters told the Eyewitness News that the family who lived in the house could escape fire.

Columbus' knights accept donations for the family of four because the house was classified as a total loss.

Clothing and supplies can be discontinued in the 2101 South Third Street in ironton.
