The Irvine High School baseball team continued its solid game to start the season, and defeated Segerstrom 3-0 on Friday afternoon in a non-league game at Segerstrom.

The Senior Pitcher Adam Valencia was a distance for Irvine and made two goals possible to win. Valencia (2-0) excluded two, went no dough and hit one. He also contributed 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Irvine (4-1) had eight goals from four jugs for Segerstrom (3-3).

“Adam Valencia was quite dominant on the hill today,” said Irvine coach Gabriel Cota. “We have a few arms that are quite talented, and if our formula is that we make every game a shutout, it will simply not happen, so the fact that our entire group remains committed is really cool.

“Everyone is important from top to bottom and they understand that. We talk a lot in this program about leaving the jersey better than they found it, and this group does it absolutely, so I am cheered on with the nine boys in the field, but everyone contributes to this and make it a fun trip for us. “

The teams were goalless in three inning rings, but in the fourth inning Owen Featherston was hit by Segerstrom Starter Marcus Valeriano by a field. Smith Spivey then sacrificed Featherston on a colorful, and Alex Cho sat down to drive in the run. Cho was marked between the first and the second with an overview of the inning.

In the fifth inning, Evan Tamayo, who reached the election of a field player, achieved second place on an RBI single from Valencia to bring the Vaqueros 2-0 into the lead. Irvine got an insurance process in the sixth inning. Featherston sat down, Cho doubled and Featherston came home on a wild field.

“He was a three-year university type,” said Cota about Featherston. “He has triggered something like this and has enforced some injuries during his high school career and it pays off. He is one of the boys who never say a word, but he comes every day. “

Valencia sealed the victory by retiring the Jaguars in the seventh year. He retired 10 batteries in a row to end the game.

“It's a good victory, a funny victory, it is good that the entire team works together to achieve a shutout win,” said Valencia. “I try to do everything to fill these holes that the seniors left last year. I look forward to the rest of the season to play ready. We look good and are ready to see what this team has. I think we'll compete this year and I think we'll be a good team. “

Cho and Valencia each had two goals and Featherston scored two runs.

Adrian Covarrubias and Elijah Sandoval had singles for Segerstrom, which achieved a 2-1 victory over century on Thursday.

Valeriano stormed into the fifth inning. Tito Fraser, Joseph Mendez and Robert Anoba ended the hill for the Jaguars.
