Israel-Hamas armistice could end this weekend, which will happen next in Gaza

The already tense Gaza custody company will take place on Saturday and not yet a word about whether Israel or Hamas will continue to negotiate for a second phase to free the remaining hostages.

During the six-week ceasefire, Hamas, together with five Thai nationals, released 33 Israeli hostage-in what mediators hoped to pave the way for permanent peace in Gaza after 15 months of intensive war.

But both Israel and Hamas have accused the other of repeatedly violating the conditions of the deal since January, whereby no side returns to the table to pay the conditions of the second phase to free the remaining hostage in exchange against Israel's full payment from Gaza.

The second phase is also supposed to settle who will regulate the post-war gaza, and Israel refuses to allow Hamas to return to its rule of the Palestinian enclave-and does not support any other sustainable candidate.

The USA and other mediators are now trying to save the ceasefire or at least negotiate an expansion of the first phase.

Will the fights restart immediately?

The war in Gaza could immediately lift back on Sunday, March 2 – but a return to the entire war could be avoided if Israel and Hamas agree to negotiate beforehand.

The conditions of the current ceasefire business are required on both sides to reduce their weapons as long as the discussions about an extension or the next phase of the current agreement occur.

During the last armistice in November 2023 there was no luck, where both sides immediately returned to war after the publication of dozens of hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

What should happen next?

As part of the original agreement, Israel and Hamas should negotiate the freedom of all remaining hostages in Gaza in exchange for the complete withdrawal of Israel from the Palestinian enclave.

Hamas said it was ready to release the hostages in a batch, which consists of soldiers of the male Israel defense workers.

The second phase also asks on both sides to lay the basis for who Gaza will rule, whereby Hamas did not want to step down and Israel refuses to continue to exist the terrorist group.

Do Hamas and Israel want to restart the war?

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that Israel will resume war in Gaza if Hamas does not voluntarily disarmed itself and its almost 20-year rule is given.

The Israeli military has repeatedly mobilized its armed forces in and around Gaza Strip after being repeated in the ceasefire contract. The Hamas also gave his fighter instructions to prepare in the event of war.

Hamas itself has avoided explicit demands for the admission of the war to resume, while Gaza lies after mass destruction and a continuing humanitarian crisis.

However, the group refuted the idea that it would arise.

What does Trump want to happen?

President Trump has repeatedly asked Hamas to free all hostages, or he would allow Israel to “let go of all hell” in the Palestinian enclave.

The president repeatedly said that he had returned to war if he were in Israel's shoes, but he leaves Netanyahus' decision.

The US special representative Steve Witkoff, who reports reported his journey to the Middle East due to negotiations on the Ukraine secretion, said that in the first phase he urged an extension to keep peace and negotiate both sides about the next hostage publications.

How many hostages are still held by Hamas?

The Hamas kidnapped 251 people during the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, with the terrorist group entering two Israelis in Gaza in 2014 and 2015.

Many hostages were either freed, saved or saw their bodies called by the IDF, including three hostages that were accidentally shot by the Israeli military.

Hamas also explained six hostages instead of allowing Israeli troops to save them.

In addition to the 28 living hostages, it is assumed that there are 31 others who were killed in Gaza.

What is the biggest hurdle to get to a ceasefire?

The biggest hurdle for the progress of the ceasefire contract remains the conditions of Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and who will rule the enclave.

Despite the international pressure, Israel has refused to support the Palestinian authority as the next line body of the Gaza Strip.

The West Bank authority ruled Gaza before it was displaced by Hamas in 2007.

Israeli officials recently tried to type Egypt to take on the role. Cairo immediately rejected the proposal and called the idea “unacceptable”.

Netanyahu also said that Israel would never withdraw from the Philadelphia corridor near the border between Gazaa Egypt, although Israeli negotiators agreed at the beginning of this year.
