It is “economic blackout” day because the campaign encourages the Americans not to spend 24 hours

A retail boycott meets on Friday in the big US companies, since an online campaign asks the Americans to spend nothing in places such as Walmart (WMT), Target (tgt), Amazon (AMZN) and McDonald's (MCD).

According to John Schwarz, the founder of the basic organization, The People's Union, the motivation for the so -called “economic blackout”.

Schwarz demanded the blackout for the first time in an Instagram video that achieved more than 8 million views. He said he wanted to end alleged price strength and tax avoidance by large companies.

“We can protest by not shopping at McDonald's, Walmart, Target,” said Schwarz.

“If you have to go out that day, go to a local company, a small boutique in local possessions. But if you can, do not go out and do not give out a cent that day.”

Schwarz said that his message, which campaigned for the price reductions, was merged with a separate consumer setback to companies that have withdrawn from the DEI guidelines of diversity, equity and inclusion (Dei).

“I support it, but I am not connected to Dei,” said Schwarz, noting that instead he focuses on price disorders and tax avoidance.

Target, Walmart, Amazon and McDonald's were among the many companies that have announced the latest Face on Diversity, a list that also includes Google (Goog), Meta (Meta) and Tractor Supply (TSCO).

Now all seven companies appear on a list of Dei -Rollbacks, which the National Association for the further development of colored people (NAACP) as part of an initiative “Black Consumer Advisory” (NAACP), which started at the beginning of this month to promote support for companies that expand their obligations for diversity.

“If companies want our dollars, they are better ready to do the right thing,” said Naacp CEO, Derrick Johnson, in a statement in which the project was announced.

The goal is also mentioned as a specific focus of another interest group, Black Wall Street Ticker, who has prescribed a “corporate fasting” to spend money in the Minneapolis retail for retail, which coordinates about 40 days of Lent from 5 March to April 17th.

“To see companies that we have strongly supported, how McDonald's, Ford Motors, Amazon, Meta and Walmart-do not reveal our longstanding relationship,” says the group on its website, but “the greatest insult comes from Target”.

Walmart was also rejected by some of his own investors. Last month, more than 30 shareholders who represent assets of $ 266 billion sent a message to CEO Doug McMillon, which described the recent changes to the retailer “very discouraging”.
