Ivy Classic Performance deserves the Kerico -Gec -Gymnast of the week

Philadelphia – After her show in the Ivy Classic, Skyelar Kerico The University of Pennsylvania's gymnastics team acquired their third Gymnasics East Conference (GEC) gymnast of the week this season.

The junior took home two individual titles (all-round and bars) on Sunday at the Ivy Classic and was the first Penn-Gymnast to win several championships at a single Ivy Classic since Dana Bonincontri in 2012. Kerico also repeated itself in The Allround, in the Allround, the first quaker is besides teammates Jordan Barrow (Vault) – to repeat since head coach as an Ivy champion Kirsten Becker (Straustaugh) did it in 2012.


Kerico's all-round score of 39.275 is the third highest in the program history, which is on the second best on the Ivy Classic and only exceeded Ivy Classic in the 2024 Ivy Classic. She has now recorded the three best programs in all -round, whereby Bonincontri is the only other gymnast that has received a 39.275 or better.


On the way to the title, Kerico earned a 9,875 on the uneven bars. This brand is bound for the third best event evaluation for a Quaker at the Ivy Classic. In six of Penns, she placed seven meetings this season at six.


In addition to her two event titles, she took second place in the safe and achieved a 9,825. Kerico achieved three all-IVY honors of the first team at the event (all-round, bars and safe) and an award of the second team.


Under the GEC gymnast, she is currently in first place at the bars (9.865), on the second to Vault (9.785) and fourth place on the floor exercise (9.815).


With the awards this week, Kerico awarded seven gymnasts of the week in her career, most of all from every quaker.


The Reds and Blue travel to Chapel Hill, NC on Friday to see No. 23 North Carolina, Temple and Yale in a Quad Meet.
