Javon Hargrave will be released at the beginning of the NFL Free Agency 2025 by 49ers

The experienced defensive tackle Javon Hargraves time in the Bay Area ended after two seasons.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the San Francisco 49ers Hargrave informed that he will be released on the first day of the league year next week, which makes him a free agent.

Nick Waggoner von ESPN reported in January that the 49 Hargrave Treaty made “significant changes” that would pave it up for the release of the path. General Manager John Lynch said at the time that the team was open to bring him back into a reduced contract, but it wanted to do it right by allowed him to test the freelance agency.

“We have some challenges and that does not mean that we cannot compete for his services,” said Lynch at the time. “Instead of waiting and being until June 1st [out of luck] Since a free agency has already happened, it gives him the opportunity to see what his market is. And that can include us. … we know Javon. He is on a good route that comes back from his injury. And would we be interested in having him? Naturally. Is that something we can agree to and is it something that fits into our plans? We will see. “

Hargrave originally signed a four-year contract with the 49s in 2023 and received his second career-pro Bowl selection with the team in his first season after creating 44 duels and seven sacks in 16 games. However, he was limited to only three appearances in 2024 after being put into an injured reserve due to a partially torn triceps.

Hargrave, a nine-year-old veteran, fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers (2016-19) and Philadelphia Eagles (2020-22). He will probably be one of the best defensive free agents on the open market in this low season, and it can be more different in the right situation.
