Clay hired Jeff Gierke on Monday as the next high school head coach in Green Cove Springs.

The 41 -year -old Gierke previously worked as head coach in Central Florida in Lyman and in Panhandle at Gulf Breeze.

He takes over Kyle Kennard, who will be head of the Blue Devils after five seasons in January.

Gierke brings coaching experience for almost two decades to the first coast and important coaching blood lines.

His father Bill Gierke won more than 300 football games in Orlando Evans, Edwater and Orangewood Christian, including the 1991 class 5a championship (a shared title when Evans Miami Southridge bound in the final) and three consecutive second place ended from 2002 from 2002 -04.

His uncle Gregg Gierke trained for several decades both in the high school and in college, including a record of 147-93 as a men's head coach at the Florida Community College at Jacksonville (now FSCJ) from 1998 to 2006.

Jeff Gierke was at the Florida Coaches Coalition last year and has numerous co -trainer stops in Florida and Tennessee, including a class -5a championship in 2020 as a quarterback coach on the Summit by Spring Hill (tenn.).

His youngest head coach job, a one -year stay at Gulf Breeze, was characterized by a high rating. The dolphins scored an average of 31.8 points and received 3,163 meters through the air, but also allowed 33.1 points per game. It was replaced there by Jim Stomps, formerly in Jacksonville in the Christian Church.
