Jenny Hval announces a new album, a video for a new song “To be a rose”: Watch

Jenny Hval has announced her new album Iris Silberbelwho has its name from a fragrance by Maurice Roucel. It arrives over 4AD on May 2, but you can now listen to the Lead single “to be a rose”. The accompanying music video of the song consists of tour shots by the Norwegian artist from 2015 to 2024, which were shot and published by Jenny Berger Myhre. Check the below.

“To be a rose” was written as a restless pop structure, “explains Hval. “It has a choir with chords and a melody, but every choir sounds a little different than we will experience the melody from different seasons, decades or even different bodies. The clichéd rose metaphor in the song is just as restless. It can turn the shape into a cigarette and then evaporate to smoke. My mother and I (two restless people) are both present in the song: I sang in my room, she smoked on the balcony/long inhale and long exhaling in choreography. When it comes to anything, it is about how one turns into a different matter, how we all come from somewhere and someone and how this is more strange and powerful than we think. “

Iris Silberbel follows 2022 Classic objects And comprises a total of 13 songs. Some of these tracks were shaped and rehearsed in live environments last year before they were recorded, in a recording that highlights Hval as “the physical and living elements of music”.

Hval also has a handful of tour dates this spring. After a concert in Madrid, Spain on April 5, the experimental art pop musician will drive to London, Brussels, Berlin and Amsterdam. Your last show will allude to Norway on June 5th. Find all upcoming Hval tour dates below.
