The Chicago White Sox Beat author Scott Merkin announced on Sunday that the White Sox Sox Slugger Joey Gallo had released. This decision makes very sensible on the surface.

Gallo has fought enormously in the last three seasons. The Slugger has not reached over 0.200 in a single season since 2019. This spring he meets in 20 bats .100. Even the historically bad white SOX cannot justify Gallo the opportunity to continue to meet.

But this story is so much deeper.

Shortly after the publication was announced, Gallo made a contribution to Twitter/X and said goodbye to the outer field and revealed that he converted to a pitcher.

A little later, Merkin revealed the whole story. Gallo applied for his release from The White Sox to pursue a career as a pitcher. It is unclear whether the White Sox would have released it without the request.

Gallo is known for his strong arm. Before playing professional baseball, he was an enormous two-way player. The Slugger routinely drove his Fastball north of 90 miles per hour in the high school, and we can only assume that his arm has become stronger in recent decades or so.

But pitching is not easy. It has been over a decade since Gallo put in a real baseball game, so that it will probably not be a smooth transition to the hill.

Having the background as a pitcher gives him a lead. From now on there are no teams that show interest in signing Gallo, but it will probably take a few months before we see if this idea has the chance to go to the ground.
