Tifton – Jamari Johnson on Wednesday on Wednesday this season Tift County High has written history.

Johnson loosened the record of the Blue Devils in the high jump 6-6 and volume. He tried 6: 7, but missed three attempts, but head coach JC Clark was confident that the record would fall; Johnson met 6-8 in practice.

The high jump was a stiff competition in which Johnson competed against Ja'sShar Kinsey from Colquitt County. The field trimmed to the two at 5-10 levels. Both sailed effortlessly over 6 feet, 6-2 and 6-4. Kinsey has accused all three 6-6 attempts. Johnson cleared himself on his first attempt.

With Johnson as the last man, Clark was on a microphone to make known that he had decided a new Blue Devils record. It didn't happen on Wednesday, but he will have many more chances this year, also at Tifts Anthony Bateman Invitational on March 8.

The Mark Johnson was previously set by Azaria Smith in March 2020, Tift's last sports year 2019-20 school year before all athletics were canceled due to Covid-19.

In addition to Johnson's heroic deeds, Nairobi Graham had an excellent day with two wins on the route. Graham won the 100 meters in 12.87 seconds and 200 in 25.99 seconds. In the latter, Graham was almost 1.5 seconds faster before second place.

Jordan Gaskins won the 110 hurdles in 15.77 seconds. Diamond Wallace won with ease in the long jump. Wallace's best jump was 17-2. The second place loosened 15-9 and no one else did 15 feet.

Tift's home meeting was friendly and six other schools visited the mini stadium. This included the rivals of the region 1-6a Colquitt County and Lowndes. The profits were almost even between the three, which indicates a very close competition for the region's meeting in a few weeks.
