Jon Scheyer wants to add non-conference games in the Duke Basketball Midseason Time Plan

It felt strange that the Duke basketball team played a big ten opponent in the heart of the ACC action on a Saturday evening in Madison Square Garden.

Jon Scheyer hoped that his team would prepare for a NCAA tournament environment, and although this was not necessarily done with a 43-point drub from Illinois, Scheyer hopes that it will continue next season.

“I said to myself, I wanted to wait until we played the game to make this decision. But I don't make this decision when I win or lose a game, ”he explained to the media on Thursday.

“We'll do everything we can to do the next year,” he added. “I think it makes a lot of sense. To be honest, we are already working on opponents and place, it will be a high -ranking game. ”

Scheyer did not reveal which team he spoke to, or with a place for the game.

Duke went through the ACC game this season and just lost a game against Clemson, in which it had a lead with a minute to play.

“Playing Madison Square Garden is really an honor, it is a privilege, and only to come for our team and play in this area,” said Scheyer after the 110-67 victory.

“I thought it was great that the preparation would come away [ACC play] For a second and go out of the bladder that we are in the ACC and play another opponent. ”

The Blue Devils end his non-conference games with a 9-2 record with victories, which then No. 2 Auburn and the Illini, while they drop games on the No. 19 Kentucky and No. 1 Kansas.

Duke will return to the Champions Classic in Kansas in Madison Square Garden at the beginning of the next season in November.
