Josh Simmons “Far before the schedule” when recovering from the torn patellar tendon “very happy” that he decided to switch to the state of Ohio

Josh Simmons' decision to leave the state of Ohio after he torn his patellar tendon in October was driven by his wish to get well as soon as possible before the NFL design.

In contrast to Seth McLaughlin Seth McLaughlin, who stayed with the Buckeyes in the state of Ohio Buckey for the duration of her national championship run in November, Simmons left the OSU shortly after his injury at the end of the season to undergo surgery and had his relaxation in Los Angeles overlooked.

“I knew that I wanted to play in the NFL, so I had to go down as soon as possible,” said Simmons. “If it were like an ankle injury, I would of course have been on the sidelines (with Ohio State). You want to achieve the best care, so I think that Neal Elattrache and his clinic down there with the best idea for me. ”

This decision pays four and a half months later. During his interview at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday, Simmons said that he was “a lot before plan” in his recovery and expected to work for scouts in front of the NFL design in April.

“I will probably be relaxed in mid-April to give everyone a good professional day,” said Simmons.

Simmons suffered the injury during the sixth season game of the state of Ohio in Oregon and went down alone when his knee spent out while he blocked Oregon Defensive End Matayo Uiagalelei. At first he thought that the state of Ohio would be treaded by Treveyon Henderson, but he recognized the severity of the injury when he tried to get up.

“I felt like a little pop, but I thought someone first hit my back on my back until I tried to get up,” said Simmons.

Simmons knew that he had improved significantly from 2023 from 2023 and received the mid-season all-American honors from the Senior Bowl for his game in the first six games in the state of Ohio, and said that it was frustrating to have his season and career in Ohio State, which he had already decided in the NFL draft from 2025 instead of his last season of visitor figures to use. But the injury gave him a greater appreciation for the opportunity he has in front of him and showed him that he does not take anything for granted.

“You do everything right, you improve a big improvement from '23 to '24, and then something like this happens. You definitely get the reality of everything that can happen. So just use everything you have in front of you, ”said Simmons. “So I put everything in the tank. Many people will sit on themselves because of an injury, right? Especially if you try it – I wanted everything, right? I wanted not only the national championship, but also personal goals such as the Outland Trophy, all the stuff. You just have to put it in the tank, right? It's just a small speed. As soon as you have received all of this in your way of thinking that you will come back much more and wake up the demons within yourself, you know that there is no way to stop them. ”

Despite the injury, Simmons will be a first choice in the first round as one of the best offensive tackles in this year's design class. His physical gifts have a lot to do with it, since Simmons has a prototypical size and sportiness for edge protection, but also his work morality, which he made possible to play at Elite level last season before his injury.

“I like to think that I am very ahead of the way I think about the game, as I diagnose and diagnose things like that,” said Simmons. “If you get it all in your head and switch it off as soon as possible before you even step into the ball, you can play much faster.”

Josh Simmons started 19 games on the state of Ohio in two seasons before his injury.

Simmons moved to the state of Ohio two years ago because he believed that Osu and offensive trainer Justin Frye -who is now the offensive line trainer for the Arizona Cardinals -could develop him into a top view view. Now that he is on the doorstep to become a high design, he is glad that he has made this decision and that the state of Ohio has a chance of him.

“I'm very happy,” said Simmons. “I think it was a bit like a game of chance just because like them from 17 punishments (in San Diego State in 2022) really rough on the edges. Then you go to the state of Ohio, trust my trainer Frye and he did the damn thing. He made me in a monster. ”

Simmons said Frye sold him about how he would be developed for the NFL during the transfer recruitment process and that Frye delivered to everything he promised.

“The recruitment of Coach Frye is in its development. He will show you exactly what he will do with you and how he will bring you to this NFL, what, I think, of an invaluable value, ”said Simmons. “He showed me step by step: This is what we will do first when you come here. That is what we will do as soon as you dismantle the basics. And let us emphasize, put everything together, that's what we will do. He told me a step-by-step plan what he would do for me. And (in the state of Ohio) was a child's play.

“Obviously I was rough on the edges. I had a lot of technical problems. So he said: 'Let us do your attitude right. We use your upper body strength. Let us know about criminal offenses and defenses and such things so that they play much faster when they come in the field. 'Then only tie techniques together. When you see how a snappy block like me pull around like me and try to like slingshot people on the field, it was all coach frye. ”

“Set my trust in coach Frye and he did the damn thing. He made me in a monster. “– Josh Simmons about the former offensive coach of the state of Ohio, Justin Frye,

While he was not at the Buckeyes for their college football playoff run (with the exception of the Rose Bowl, which he has visited in Los Angeles since his work), Simmons said that it was “amazing” how he won the state of Ohio from a distance. He can still call himself a national champion for the contributions he did to the team before his injury, and he was proud of his former teammates that they could do the work without him.

“Obviously you want to be out there with your brothers, right? But I mean, they handled business. I was just very happy for you and she cheered all the way for you, ”said Simmons.
